Abstract:

Sustainable consumption behavior among high school students plays a significant role in fostering environmentally and socially responsible lifestyles. This study aims to identify and analyze the influence of selected psychological factors on the sustainable consumption behavior of students at Van Xuan High School, Hanoi. Based on an extended Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), the proposed research model examines the roles of environmental awareness, environmental concern, sustainable consumption knowledge, subjective norms, green trust, attitudes toward sustainable consumption, and sustainable consumption intention in shaping sustainable consumption behavior. A quantitative research approach was employed using a structured questionnaire administered to students at Van Xuan High School. Statistical analyses were conducted to assess the reliability and validity of the measurement scales, examine the relationships among variables, and evaluate the effects of the proposed factors within the research model. The findings reveal that cognitive factors, attitudes, social influences, and behavioral intentions play significant roles in shaping sustainable consumption behavior among high school students. Based on these findings, several implications are proposed for environmental education and the development of psychosocial educational programs aimed at promoting sustainable consumption behavior in high schools.
