Abstract:

In today’s globalized business landscape, human resource management (HRM) plays a pivotal strategic role in enhancing organizational performance, particularly within multinational corporations (MNCs). This research presents a comparative analysis of HRM practices among global firms operating in Bangalore, India—a prominent center for international business and technology services. The study focuses on critical HR domains, including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation management, and employee engagement. Using a mixed-method research design, data were gathered through structured surveys and in-depth interviews with HR professionals across diverse multinational firms. The study aims to identify commonalities and variations in HRM practices, evaluate the impact of corporate culture and global policy frameworks, and understand how these practices are adapted to fit the local Indian environment. The findings reveal substantial differences in HR strategies influenced by organizational scale, home-country origins, and industry sectors. While certain companies maintain standardized global HR policies, others adopt a more region-specific approach to improve cultural alignment and employee integration. The research also highlights the difficulties MNCs encounter in achieving a balance between global uniformity and local responsiveness. This study contributes to cross-cultural HRM literature and provides actionable insights for HR practitioners seeking to optimize talent management strategies in multinational contexts, especially within emerging markets like India.
