Abstract:

Feature engineering is pivotal in the advancement of machine learning for threat detection. By converting raw data into actionable insights, feature engineering enhances the accuracy of predictive models. This paper builds on the foundational work of Kothamali, Banik, and Nadimpalli (2021) to explore contemporary approaches and applications of feature engineering in cybersecurity. By analyzing a comprehensive dataset of feature engineering strategies for threat detection, this study highlights effective practices, challenges, and the role of automation. The findings underscore the importance of integrating domain expertise and advanced algorithms to address the complexities of modern cyber threats.
