Abstract:

With the increasing popularity of cloud computing, security of cloud data has become a major concern. One of the main security threats is key exposure, where an attacker gains access to the secret key used for encrypting and decrypting data. When the encryption key is exposed, the only feasible way to preserve data confidentiality is to reduce the adversary’s access to the cipher text. To attain the data confidentiality we can out spread the cipher text blocks around servers in multiple administrative domains considering that the adversary cannot deal all of them. Unless, if information is encrypted with current techniques, an adversary who knows the encryption key, can some how deal a single server and can decrypt the cipher text blocks stored in them. In this paper, we study about securing data confidentiality and how to stop an adversary who knows the encryption key and can access the cipher text blocks. In this paper, we present Bastion host, which is the best strategy that guarantees data confidentiality even when the encryption key is exposed to the adversary. The bastion host is used to encrypt and decrypt data in the cloud, reducing the risk of key exposure.
