Abstract:

There is an urgent requirement for the adoption of cutting-edge technology, innovation, and tools to improve the current state of traffic as the issue of urban traffic congestion worsens. The conventional approaches, including human control or timers, have been shown to be inadequate for resolving this dilemma. This research proposes a method for controlling traffic that measures real-time vehicle density utilizing clever edge detection technique and digital picture processing. In comparison to the current systems, this formidable congestion control system delivers a significant improvement in response time, vehicle management, automation, dependability, and overall efficiency. Also, utilizing four sample photographs of various traffic conditions, the entireprocess from image acquisition through edge identification and lastly timings of green signal allotment is explained using suitable diagrams.
